A Place for Writing and Creativity

I have now taken two groups of writers to an old manor house in Stroud, in the heart of the Cotswolds. It is a haven of peace and tranquility, whilst providing creative energy and inspiration.
We've had weekends of writing and editing, of discussing and befriending, of creativity and hilarity.
We are looked after by the wonderful Lucia, who feeds us delicious food throughout the weekends - homemade marmalade ice cream has become a firm favourite!

It was a rare, magical interlude from day-to-day life. A great chance to meet and/or discover one’s writing tribe and to dedicate time to writing.

A wonderful weekend writing retreat, that promises prompts, on point critique and time to work on what you choose. All set up in a luxurious fifteenth century house, with delicious meals, all freshly prepared and cooked to perfection. I loved this weekend and would gladly recommend to anyone.

A weekend, packed full with Clare’s stimulating workshops, 1 to 1 critiques and quiet writing time. The house is simply stunning and the food, plentiful, homemade and delicious. For me, unadulterated decadence.

An opportunity to explore my creativity with a wonderful group of people in a welcoming, supportive and all-round delightful setting – all facilitated by a skilled and talented teacher of creative writing.

'Joyful!'
These retreats have gone down so well that Lucia and I have planned some more.
Here are the dates:
Autumn Day Writing Retreat
25th October 2026
A day dedicated to your writing
Winter Weekend Writing Retreat
26th-28th February 2027
The house will be cosy and candlelit, there will be log fires and warming bakes.
Spring Day Writing Retreat
Date TBC 2027
Summer Weekend Writing Retreat
9th-11th July 2027
The butterflies will be dipping over the lavender, the nights will be light and long, and the food fragrant and fresh.
For all of these retreats, I'll keep the numbers attending small, so that writers can get lots of attention and really concentrate on their work.

On the food:
Just wow. I have nothing but glowing praise – for all of it.

I was a tad anxious about the weekend, but it was both creatively inspiring and unexpectedly therapeutic. Clare is the perfect blend of laser insight, acerbic wit and deep sensitivity. You feel safe to explore and experiment, while receiving gentle advice on how to improve. All enhanced by a kind, generous group and the calm and nurturing Lucia.

On the food:
Just stunning! I loved the emphasis on tasty healthy food - but with puddings! (I’ll particularly be replicating the butter beans, herby cod, and apricot trifle.)

My room was wonderful. I felt like a queen.
