Pour yourself a glass of wine or a mug of coffee and snuggle down on a virtual sofa for a good old chinwag about a story. This group started as a place to get together during lockdown, and quickly became a weekly essential. Let’s Talk Stories now runs fortnightly.
In each session we take one short story, read it together and then discuss it. It might be an old story, it might be brand new. You do not need to read the story beforehand, but it will be sent to you the day before if you want to access the text before the group starts. These sessions are particularly useful for those who are reading as writers.
So far we’ve looked at stories by Shirley Jackson, Katherine Mansfield, Miranda July, Ray Bradbury, Jo Lloyd, Toni Morrison, Doris Lessing, CJ Hauser, Saki, Kevin Barry, Hari Kunzru, Ernest Hemingway, Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi and Guy de Maupassant, amongst many others. All different, all gripping in their own ways.
It’s like a bookclub with very short books.
A new season of Let’s Talk Stories will run fortnightly on Wednesday nights from 7.00-8.30 pm, starting on 13th January 2021. **This series of discussion groups has now sold out. Get in touch if you’d like to know about future groups.**
A ticket for each session costs £5.00. You are welcome to book individual sessions via Eventbrite (see links below). If you’d like to block book all six sessions for £30, you can escape the Eventbrite fee by booking direct with me. Please get in touch for bank details.
I hope to see you at one of these sessions. Thank you and happy writing!
