The audience wept…

Brief Encounter on Friday was a fantastic evening!  We had some terrific  stories from writer-performers Elaine Miles, Doc Watson, Clare Reddaway and Stephanie Weston.  Catherine Strong’s story was read by Caroline Garland and Geoffrey Heptonstall’s story by Olly Langdon.  We were very pleased to welcome Jennifer Crook who played a song inspired by Carnforth Station (where Brief Encounter was filmed, keep up!)  Some of us dressed to impress with Olly looking very flamboyant in his suit and hat, Caroline looking suitably 1940s demure and Clare looking a little bit like Noel Coward….  Not everyone stayed for the movie, but we still had a sizable audience hunkering down to watch Trevor and Celia being terribly, terribly unheppy.  There was a considerable amount of sniffing and eye wiping going on.  Next Story Friday is on January 17th, theme is Blue, see you there!
