Writers announced for Anniversaries!

We’re very excited to announce the writers who will be reading you some fab stories for Story Friday Anniversaries on the 10th.  We’ve very excited to welcome back Emma London, Clare Reddaway and Susan Shah, we’ll be singing along with Mark Rutterford, hearing from soon-to-be-published novelist Anne Corlett, and greeting newcomer to Story Friday Stephen Tuffin.  Gill Simmons of Brave Bold Drama will be singing a song especially composed for Story Friday and Katie Stone Lonergan will be playing her violin in the bar.  We think it’s going to be a very good evening!  So do come along and join us on Friday 10th March at Burdall’s Yard, 7A Anglo Terrace, Bath BA1 5NH.  Doors open at 7.15, stories start at 8.00, tickets are £5 on the door.  See you there!

Our first very SONG written for Story Friday!

We’re very excited that we have our first ever SONG written especially for Story Friday Anniversary! Come along and listen to Gill Simmons of Brave Bold Drama who will be singing and playing her new song for us on 10th March!  If you came to Story Friday Ice you’ll have heard Gill playing in the bar – she was playing a fantastic mix of jazz and blues and folk that had everyone’s toes tapping!  Can’t wait to hear her Anniversary song!

Ice recordings ready for listening!

We had a wonderful icy Story Fridays on Friday.  We had fabulous stories that spanned the world from Siberia to the American Civil War, from the fjords of Norway to the funeral parlours of Bath.  If the icy weather kept you away on Friday, all our stories are ready to listen to here.  Now it’s time to sharpen those quills for Story Friday Anniversary, 10th March.  Deadline is 27th February.  Get writing!

Writers and musicians announced for Ice!

Story Friday Ice is a delectation of delights for you – we’ve got writers Christine Roberts, Jenny Woodhouse, Rosalind Minett, Martin Philips, Elaine Miles, Chloe Turner and B&NES competition winners Charlotte Wormold and Susan Shah.  They’re bringing stories from Siberia and the American Civil War, from the shore of an icy whaling island to the warmth of the future.  The stories are surprising, dramatic and in some cases, very funny.  We’re thrilled to welcome Gill Simmons of Brave Bold Drama who will be playing her eclectic mix of jazz and folk and songs-with-a-story which she will bring to us via a keyboard and a ukulele!  Come along to Burdall’s Yard, 7A Anglo Terrace, BA1 5NH on this Friday 13th January.  Doors open and music starts at 7.15, the stories kick off at 8.  Tickets are £5 on the door – see you there!

Flash Fiction event on 9th December

If you are missing listening to stories in December and want a break from the Christmas market – why not try an evening of flash fiction? Organised by the folks at the Bath Flash Fiction Award, there is an evening of flash fiction on Friday December 9th at St James’ Wine Vaults, Bath. Recordings of War, now available to listen again

The recordings of the stories that were read on Friday at Story Friday War are now ready to listen to here.  The stories are highly recommended – thought-provoking, interesting, moving and beautifully written, we were proud to hear them on Friday night, and the audience had a fab time.  Enjoy!

Writer-performers for Story Friday War!

Submissions, workshops, WLTM and openings at Critlink group

Submissions are rolling in for Story Friday War on 11th November – but we are always looking for more!  Sharpen those pencils, flex those fingers, get your writing nodules into gear and send us a story!   Click here for submission details.  We had huge fun on Saturday morning at our Writing Politics workshop.  I’m running a Memories Workshop in December.  For more information click here.  Story Fridays is very lucky to have so many talented people involved with us. Outsiders Recordings

We had a cracking night on Friday down at Burdall’s with Story Friday Outsiders.  We heard some fantastic stories by Conor Houghton, Crysse Morrison, Elaine Miles, Christine Roberts, Rosalind Minett, Clare Reddaway and Stephanie Weston.  If you didn’t manage to get along, you can listen to the recordings here – the stories are all hugely enjoyable and thought provoking.  Thank you to all of you who came along – thank you to Tracey and Jason who played brilliantly as ever – and we look forward to seeing you all for Story Friday War on November 11th!
